Hi joolies, It's been a while since my last post. I hope all had good holidays, I think we did, we survived all the colds , flu , bronchitis. Now we are dug in for the frigid weather the next few days. Supposed to dip to 12 and stay below feezing till Friday.
Looks like eBay is pretty much done as far as small sellers go. It will be interesting to see what happens after the split. I don't hold out a lot of hope.
We are still plugging along at the fleamarket, It hasn't been that great either but seems to pick up on nice days, still profitable 🙂 -

Helllllllooooooooo, Hi Y'all, Just checkin' in, not much goin' on for online sales, still tryin' to sell at the fleamarket. Hope all is well for all of you and yours. The Ms P had to have surgery for a hernia but is recuperating nicely. The kid finished rehab and now walks with a limp, I rekon that's a blessing, could have been much worse.

Hi lil, and everyone, just popping in, looks like we may as well all give up ebay, sales are few and far between, and now they are changing the feedback system to give themselves more freedom to manipulate seller's standing, in order to eliminate any discounts seller has earned. Also they are pressuring sellers to give longer return periods, like it's gonna take a buyer 30 or 60 days to decide if they really want this item they purchased. That's how they increased it from 3 to 4 to 7 to 10 and 14 days, first they suggest, then pressure, and finally make it mandatory. I had an appointment for a representative to call me and explain why my good reputation on ebay was in danger because I had a couple of neutrals, one because a watch band was not imitation leather like I described, and another because an insured pot was broken in transit and was returned as "not as described" so I had to pay postage for return. The rep called and after bragging on me for a while she suggested I lower my prices, offer 30 day returns, get a store, and save even more than I'm saving already :). Well I had to explain to her that I've already been down that road, had a store and did quite well, until they blocked all store items from search returns (I never did figure out what their reasoning was on that except the store did have cheaper listing fees) We figured at the time they were going to do away with stores. But not so now, apparently they would rather you have a store over running free auctions and fixed price listings:). Anyway when I gaze into my crystal ball , I see the colors fading in ebay's logo, and a not so bright future 🙂 my 2 cents worth, Leon ,
Y'all be havin' a nice'n -
Hi peeps, Shelly, Cil, Jo, doreen, Pat and anyone I missed. 🙂 Can't believe I haven't been here since christmas. Really been burning the candle at both ends. The kid is walking again without props. After multiple surgeries and a couple of months in a motorized wheelchair, he now walking but having physical therapy twice a week. Getting his strength back. We've got a new manager at the flea and that has taken more of our time. The weather hasn't been all that great here in the balmy south either, sub zero nights with sub freezing highs during the days with snow and ice all over is not something this old boy can get used to. We are total electric and our bill is over $300 a month the last couple of months. But lucky we didn't lose power. Nice to see a few warm days, can't be too long till it gets better, saw Canadian Geese heading North, March lillies are blooming and the Maples are budding. So what's the question of the day??? Glad to see some life in here, y'all stay warm 🙂

Hey people, how about a roll call, feel like we are talking to the wall here.
Been plenty busy , with the Dr appointments and therapy for the kids broken leg.
And last week we had a turnover in management of our fleamarket, and of course they always have their own new ideas. Business has been so slow that it can't do much but get better or close the doors. -

I have a friend that works at Goodwill and she says they don't get anything near what they used to get in donations. We have about quit going there , the shelves are always empty, and they sell the good stuff on the bay anyway.

I suppose we are about to find out if the business is going to pick up for the "season". Personally I'm not looking for a big jump in sales, been too slow for too long, it's the economy. Those of us who don't live off the government have to spend all our "extra" money on gas and groceries. Even yard sales are slow , or so they say

Oh, I think I would be lost if not at the flea on weekends, lol. Been at it so long , got it in my blood I guess. But seriously, it's my storefront, and the rest of the week we can pretty much shuffle around to suit our needs and wants. We've been there so long , we have regular customers even from out of state.

The kid is doing pretty good. He has responded to the therapy pretty well. He can straighten his knee, still can't bend it like the good one. But neice says he's gonna get there. Still a while yet before they will let him try to walk on it.

They got Tim enrolled in home health service for his therapy. Our neice works there and we kinda requested she be the one to come out and work with him. She scheduled him last for the day so she could spend all the time she wants to. The doc said Wednesday that he wanted to see that leg completely straight when he comes back in 4 weeks. Otherwise healing nicely, still no weight on that leg for 8 more weeks. Therapy starts today,

Tim had is second surgery the past Thursday, he's home now with a lot of pain. We built a ramp up to the front door of his apartment so he can get in and out with a walker or wheelchair. He hasn't felt like venturing out yet. Doc told him to flex the knee everytime he thought of it until he comes back for post-op visit , next Wednesday. They will set up therapy then. Still can't put any weight on that leg for 3 months.

Spent the better part of last week at the hospital with our youngest, he's 45 but still our youngest. He hit a curb and crashed his bike (50cc scooter) in the city park. Crushed his knee, local hospital said they didn't have a doc that could handle that kind of injury so they sent him to the big A town. They pinned his leg up temporarily, gonna operate sometime this week and put plates in, said he wouldn't be able to walk on it for at least 3 months. Prayers will certainly be appreciated.

Doreen, copy the link, open the ebay page, click on "revise your item", scroll down to the description, click on "HTML" tab, insert your cursor where you want the link, then paste, then scroll on down and click on "continue" then scroll all the way down and click "preview listing" you can see how it's gonna look, if you might want to move it or something. When you get it like you want it, scroll down to bottom and click "submit"

Hey Shelly, and any lurkers we might have out there. I've found that some pins are fixable, depends how they are made and how they're broke. The Ms sometimes insists when I say it aint worth fixin', and then she sells it for $10 or $15. I have used the wire wrapping technique to repair some.

Hello Chris, I believe the lobster claw came into use in the mid to late 1970s. A 1920s clasp would probably be a spring ring, 1930s and 40s used a lot of the split clasps
-
Hi Shelly, hope your hubby is doing great and getting good reports. I think on the missing stones, you can usually figure the cost of replacing the lost and discolored stones and deduct that amount. It may not sell as quick but there's always someone out there willing to have it repaired. Myself, I usually do my own repairs. It can take a bit of time to come up with the "just right" stones sometimes tho.
It's just not as busy here as it used to be, same way on ebay and other sites, well, same way at our fleamarket. We are still in recession, people are still hurting from the crash, businesses still closing, still a lot of people out of work -
My neighbor at the flea stutters real bad, now she's got me doin' it 🙂

Hi joolies, just checkin' in, we are still kickin' down here in Dixieland. Got some good hot peppers coming on, tomatoes not ready yet, cucumbers failed, got to re-plant, started too early I rekon. Good evening joolies, friends and lurkers. Haven't been keeping up lately, been so busy.
The nephew is undergoing more chemo, the the tumor came back. He's already had the 3rd surgery.
The MsP has finished her therapy and looks like her wrist and arm is about as good as they are gonna get, still a lot of lost motion and strength.
We start laser treatments on her eyes tomorrow, the replacement lenses she got during the cataract surgery are clouding over, the doc says if the laser treatments don't work they will have to replace the lenses again.
Keep us in your prayers -

Good evening folks, been trying to get squared away and back to work in the shop this week. The MsP got a reprieve from therapy this week and it couldn't have come at a better time. I have plenty of repair work to do. She is gaining strength and range of motion in that wrist. She has gotten to the point she can handle putting the iron skillet into the oven with that hand, but can't manage getting it out yet.
-
Gosh, went to GW today, the cupboard was bare, and stuff they did have was way too high

60 degrees out there right now, good sleeping weather 🙂

Good evening joolies, the MsP is gaining motion and strength in her wrist, got to go back to the doc tomorrow and let him check it out, but the therapist has already said she needs weeks more therapy
It has finally cooled off a little here, the last storm front that went through last Friday night and Sat morning brought cooler thinner air -

Hello people,
A big ol ~~~~~~~~~~~ at all,
We are still kicking down here in the southern appalachians, summer is still in full blast, 90s and 100s, thunderstorms daily. Flea is doing ok, some peeps are going to come out no matter how hot it is.
I got a perfect set of " Wallace " sterling S&P shakers" for $1 at an outside table Saturday.
We went up to the Franklin Gem Show last week, lots more people there this time, vendors and buyers, and more new stuff.
The MsP still going to therapy with that stiffened wrist 2 days a week. The swelling finally went down. -
Got my shingles shot today, they say it won't positively prevent them from occuring again but lessens the chances and severety
My lab report was good, cholestrol is down to safe level. But so is my weight, but guess that will level out some once I start eating some real food along
The MsP got her therapy evaluation, starts Thursday for sure, 2 days a week besides her home exercises she has to do -
Marson, 333 is 8K, the 0.005 means that one is plated
-
Hello friends, our weather has cooled a bit, we are having mid to upper 90s highs now and that is a relief. Not a whole lot of sales on my part either. All my sites together don't sell like the good ol' days. But just enough dribbling in from one then the other to keep me at it.
Been spending lots of time in the waiting rooms. The MsP lost a good bit of motion in her wrist from the break and all the time in the cast. She is just begining therapy, had to postpone it because she was bitten by one of the cats and that hand and wrist swelled something fierce. Had to have a tetnus shot and a round of anti-biotics. All this while she was having cataract surgery and lens implants and we both had to get new glasses. My Doctor called today for me to come in and discuss my lab results.....:(
I finally got over my shingles bout and am supposed to get the shot tomorrow. -
They still teach this technique at the William Holland School up in Young Harris , GA
-
I need to borrow some of my wirewrap items that I've done and make some pics to post here. The MsP and I worked together , she mostly telling me how to do it 🙂
We used the old techniques developed by the French as rehab for injured soldiers after the World Wars -

I totally agree on the jewels, not worth the listing effort on ebay, of course it's been that way for some time for me. They still move at the flea, though not like "the good ol' days" -
Good morning joolies, all those greetings from what appeared to be from me, were from the hacker. I changed my password yesterday and mailed a "hacked, changed password " notice to everyone in my address book. I was even getting emails from myself, lol
On the ebay advertising links to other similar items. They do that on the free listing pages, they also charge a full 10% FVF plus PayPal fees, if it sells

I was born and grew up in a mining town and never figured I would leave it, didn't even want to leave it. Married my high school sweetheart from the next little town over. That didn't work out, only lasted 5 years, then I started rambling, about 15 years later, came back to that little mining town on a whim and found my Princess. Married her and we left there together, it's practically a ghost town now, especially the part where we lived, and we've been together ever since and settled here almost in hollerin' distance. Don't think I would change anything if I could, It was all good.

Good afternoon joolies, the MsP's wrist is hurting her most of the time. She keeps straining it, bumping it around, it's still swelled, she wears a splint most of the time. My shingles have started drying in and are at the tormenting stage. I have found some cream that seems to ease the itching and burning (recommended by a friend, a meter reader for the gas company who had all kinds of run-ins with poison vines). It's "Calmoseptine Ointment", got mine at Walgreen's over the counter, doc couldn't recommend anything, said she didn't think calamine lotion would help much, just gave me more pain pills. We got our eye exams Tuesday, the MsP goes for cataract removal next week , and the other eye the following week. I just get new glasses, they said I had cataracts too but we will wait a while yet before we do anything about them. When it rains it pours.

The MsP has not had chicken pox, the doc said if she didn't touch the blisters on me she wouldn't catch them. Shingles are not contagious, but if you have not had chicken pox, you can catch them from someone who has shingles if you touch the blisters. I'm not sure about the shots, if they are to prevent chicken pox or shingles. The doc says if you have had the chicken pox you have the shingles virus. It is herpes virus and can flare up anytime, infecting the nerves. I had symptoms for a week before the rash manifested but didn't recognize them till the rash. The first itching burning, I blamed on spider bite, then I decided maybe fire ant, then maybe a snake bite. I had the MsP looking for marks and there was none. Then the stabbing pains, aching and soreness, then the rash, then to the doc and she said it was a good thing I came in soon and that we could probably get it cleared up in 30 days. But it could take longer, the blisters have dried in but the pain only subsides when I'm pilled up and wearing the pain patches.

🙁 sorry to here they are closing. I don't have any stores selling a lot of any one certain thing, they are all over the place, games, toys, jewelry, books, glass . Kinda like the flea market, can't make it selling just one thing. We just bit off an xtra 300 sq ft of space at the flea starting this month. I don't have any one site that would be worth it's start-up effort and that includes ebay. All of them together kinda keeps me interested.

Sales seem to have picked up a little across all my sites, think maybe I might use some of my "down time" this week to start a Ruby Plaza thing and see how that does.

Good morning / nite joolies, got my days and nites mixed up again, 🙁 All the meds they have me on coupled with the pain and other side effects , have just about kicked my butt. The visible part of the shingles is drying up , but the all over body pain has just gotten worse. The prednazone has me eating everything in sight and still hungry, no telling what my cholesterol is going to look like. All the pain meds fade quickly.
We had a descent weekend at the flea as far as sales go. The MsP got her cast off, and now wearing the splint, trying to do too much and got the wrist really sore. -

We did do the flea and it wasn't fun at all, but the most profitable weekend we've had this month. Painful shingles and cold wind whistling around the place.
The MsP gets her cast off tomorrow, but the doc says she will still have to wear a splint for awhile. -

Good afternoon joolies, I just couldn't get here to help answer the last few questions. Been double busy since the MsP broke her arm. I get to do my job and hers now. Another week and the cast comes off but she has tendon damage so that will linger for a while. The doc already said she will have to have a splint when the cast is removed.

Hmm, guess I would go trucking into Tiffany's in my denims to "invest" my $500K 🙂

Hi jo, I get to do about everything, she's already learned to live with my slicing and dicing , and we eat a lot of sandwiches. We had a good mess of poke salat last week, she couldn't stand it and had to help cut out the tops and tried to strip some stalks but didn't take her long to get enough of that. But she stays right with me to be sure I do it right. 🙂

Good morning joolies, 43 degrees feels downright easterlike after those 80 degree days and 70 degree nights, supposed to warm up to about 70 this afternoon though. Maybe a good day for the flea.

Howdy joolies, Been working on our mobile home rental all week, had to put a new pump in the well, and had some roof leaks to fix from the last tornado damage. Supposed to have been fixed by a previous tenant (for rent) but had to go do it myself.

I think my favorite kid's movie was Alice In Wonderland (what does that tell you , lol 🙂 The all time greats were "Ten Commandments" and "Greatest Story Ever Told " "Ben Hurr" and If there were a 4th it would be "Oh Brother Where Art Thou"
