• Everyone deserves a little beauty now and again. Here, have some.

  • Stay cool friends. I am going to take a nap in front of the fan. Just too tired to do any thing else.

  • Never thought it would be too hot to wear jewelry, but it is. Even my watch seems like too much. Still like to look at the pretty things for sale though. Even the cats are too hot to do much more than to lie around all stretched out.

The yard plants are slowly drying up. They are looking sad. We keep over a dozen milk jugs full of water and then DH uses them to water the plants in pots on the porches. He keeps the birdbath full by the bucket full. It is a very popular place too. The squirrels and robins are the most frequent visitors and we even see an occasional cat at the water.

  • eBay is certainly a household name around here. I just get so frustrated with their continual changing the basic things. Now, I spend a lot of time trying to understand how and why we are doing things. I thought of putting some of my books on Half.Com as I have done in the past. Spent a whole afternoon and came away so frustrated that I feel like giving the whole business up. The River is no better. Had the same problem over there. Listing has become very complicated. Sigh. And the pay is a bummer.

  • I would love to live for 6 months on the Big island in Hawaii. Been there, loved it. Would be wonderful to go back for a long visit. With my DH, just us, what a dream!

  • Lost a post and too tired to re write it. It was the chew... thing I love to eat and why I am so over weight. Promise to write it later.

  • Hi Yawl. I would take the cave if it had a closed up back to it, like a small room.Thank God for houses although when all the kids come home, it looks more like a cave. Lovely though

  • Morning everyone! Thanks for all the concern. I am finding a lot about Gout than I ever imagined. It is an old ailment, that is for sure. In my case it is in regard to my kidneys. Seems like the fluid restriction that I have been following did not help either. I am very weak but am improving rapidly. So glad that I have a computer and an ipad....and my family and heck yes....two cats, Jasper and Jimmy.

  • Morning all. I am going to post a copy of my answer to another board.

Back home after a week in the hospital. What we thought was a broken bone in my foot turned out to be Gout. It was so painful that when I woke up, I couldn’t get out of bed. I couldn’t stand to put any weight on my foot. The fireman had to come with special equipment to get me out of the house.

Then, after lots of testing my blood was too thin for some minor surgery they found I needed. Coumadin level was way too high. That was a wow as I just had it checked a week ago. So now I go back to the hospital next Thursday for the surgery. Anyway, I sold 2 books so life was not a complete loss.

  • The color that I like the least is brown. Don't know why, it just is.

  • Blue, I never tire of blue. That is already what I wear. Funny how these favorites turn up. I don't remember when I realized that blue was the color I was preferring. I remember loving pink when I was little. When I went to high school the color was green because that was our school colors. I even had a green coat. The next coat I bought was navy blue. Maybe that was the start of it all.

  • Yep Glitz, I prefer the milk chocolate with nuts and my absolute favorite is Turtles.

  • I think of the Easter Bunny as the same color as the ones that live in our yard a kind of brown.

  • hahaha Glitz on the gay Easter Bunny. Why not. I have a very good friend who is gay. At least he says he is and he is not active which makes him nothing. He doesn't speak of it much, only if someone comes right out and asks him. I'm not sure and really don't care.

  • Glitz, if I had it to do over again, I would have never started smoking. The time wasted? I would have done something with my kids. I didn't start until I was about 26 and don't remember why. My DH has never smoked and he always hated it so March 21, 1976, and after smoking for about 15 years, having no extra money, that is what I gave him for his birthday. I never smoked one bit after that. It was hard but he meant so much to me.

  • Shelly, I never did answer you about my listing. I feel badly about it. I just kept forgetting. Yes I list under the name I use here, dropping the (just).
I finally got around to sorting a few books and have 22 listed. Now have to get some pictures of other things. Probably too late for bunnys and I have a bunch and am going to list them anyway and hope the collectors are out there just waiting for me to find a gear. lol

Oh and a big happy Good Morning to the Rest of you jewels. BTW did you know that my last name is Ruby? So that makes me a jewel. Yep, I have heard a lot of jokes about that too... all of them nice.

  • Actually, I love almost all colors. Certainly all of the rainbow. All of the colors of flowers and most of growing things. I have a friend in Las Vegas who says that she gets awfully tired of brown. I have yet to see a rose or tulip that I didn't love.

  • I know that it is cooler but this kind of weather seems to slow down spring a bit. It all was happening so fast and the flowers and tree blossoms didn't seem to last long enough.
My dh will be anxious to set out some new plants though.
As to the color blue again, my favorite piece of jewelry is a blue Star Sapphire. I was going to have it resized but, I have lost enough weight that if I keep on, it will fit just right soon.

  • BLUE, blue as the sky. Blue as my GGS's eyes. That other shade of blue that you put on new baby boys.

Blue, the color of most of my clothes, my toothbrush, my towels and washcloths, our dishes, teakettle, our ice tea glasses, our car. Sky blue, Cobalt blue, Powder blue, Navy blue, blue indigo,Turquoise blue Teal blue. Blue moon, Old gray bonnet with the blue ribbons on it. My Alice blue gown. I am so blue when I miss you. Blue skies, smiling at me, nothin but blue skies do I seeeee.

  • GLITZ, if I had to change my citizenship, I would probably pick Australia. In all of the world, the Australians seem the most like us. I feel that I could deal with all the differences quickly and since my DH has visited there, I think he would pick it too.

  • There is something especially beautiful this morning. I will try to describe it for you. If you could just climb in there between my ears to see some of the wonderous things I see from my computer room window. More about that later.
The sap is up in our little sugar maple and the squirrels are busy nibbling along the limbs to get a taste of that sweetness. Hanging on one of the small branches is a big blob or drip of that sap. The sun light is caught in that bubble and it is a beautiful crystal, changing to an array of rainbow colors as the light wind moves it about. It is gone now but lasted long enough for me to realize what it was and to enjoy it. Prettier than any piece of glass and sure doesn’t last as long.
Anyway, you can tell that I am awed?

  • We go to the Golden Corral at least twice and sometimes three times a week. We pick a table where my wheel chair fits nicely and is not in the way. I can have a lot of the fresh veggies that are on my diet and eat as slowly as I like. It gets me out a few times a week and I need the exercise of walking to the car from the front porch which is as far as I can manage.
Anyway, while there I can watch other people and see what they are wearing, etc. I particularly have notice some very large ear rings. Some of them have feathers and other odd things, often to match hair decorations. Some are very strange. Children especially wear all kind of bows, feathers, ribbons and jewelry, often old ones, like pins on head bands and with some kind of hair clip.
I must say that I enjoy watching other people as I do eating.

  • Good Morning all! I am sitting here waiting to see if indeed Indy is going to have a tornado. All I see when I look outside is rain. Tornados are a scary thing in Indiana. I have been in several and the last one beat up at least 5 of our trees and the cost to clean that up was BIG time. Plus some tears when our favorite Ash had to come down. Our side porch, which is our summer gathering place, is not longer in the shade.

I enjoy watching your auctions when ever I find the time. I haven't looked in a while. I have a few pieces I must do something about and I keep stalling as I know absolutely nothing about Jewelry except that I love to look at it.

I wear very little jewelry anymore. Certainly, my diamond ring that I got for being married for 50 years. I have a watch that I treasure and it is just several years old. I saw it in a Smithsonian Catalogue. It is sparkley blue snowflake on a mother of pearl background and has a blue leather band to match. It is a replica of a postage stamp and if I can find it, I have a picture of it and I will post the picture or my arm with the watch on it. I wear it whenever I go out the front door.

  • HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR, and of course that your whole Holiday Season was as great as ours was.

I have had a super nice Christmas. Some family made the trip back here again that were here for Thanksgiving. We had all kinds of food again with so many bringing their share. The kitchen counters were always full. Everyone pitched in to do something. My youngest daughter just took charge and made sure that things were put away or in the frig. She even ran the sweeper several times as Christmas was about a week long this year.

We received a lot more cookies this year which please my DH for he is a first rate cookie lover.

  • This post is a copy that I am using on the other boards to explain that after making request for others to post, I may not be able to as much as I wanted. so here it is.

It is Good Evening Cause about 2:00 a.m. I had an Asthma attack and had to go to the emergncy room. Came home again this morning about 10.00 am. Had a breathing treatment, exrays and left a pint of blood and lots of oxygen. Have an appointment with Drs on Nov.25 at ll:oo a.m. I tried to get out of that one but was told, no way. I sure am glad that I am not cooking. All I have to do this year is be here. The kids are all taking care of things. Not exactly what I had in mind today but well, no one put me in charge of me either.

I am really in no pain, just the problem breathing and coughing. Awfullly sleepy and getting a lot of it too.
Am taking Prednozone…excuse the spelling as I would have to get up to find out how to spell it.

Fortunately, about the only thing I can do other than read and watch TV is use my computer so, here I am.
No sweeping, making beds and little cooking, then using the microwave. I do sit and cut up veggies for my salads.

So glad to see your posts, thanks so much for writing.

  • Good Morning, I just thought you might want to know, there is some lovely old costume jewelry for auction at jude51

I admit that I really know nothing about jewelry other than I have some that I like. Some of it is old and some of it is kinda old, or not new.

  • Good Morning all. It has been raining most of the night and that brought down a lot more leaves.

Yesterday was a lovely sunshiny day. It made me feel lazy like in the Springtime. Didn't want to do a darn thing. So, we went mid-morning to the Fire station to Vote and found no voters there, just the workers. That sure was a funny feeling. Our Mayor in Indianapolis won that election and was re elected.

Naturally, I noticed the beautiful leaves falling. The Pear, Gum and fire bushes are spectacular. We can’t keep a large pile of raked leaves unprotected near the street. It just calls to the school kids and of course the thing they HAVE to do is jump around in them.

  • Good morning Jewels. My favorite piece of jewelry, other than my engagement ring, is a star sapphire. Since my favorite color is blue, I have several nice pieces with blue stones.
I believe I have told you that one of the things I have purchased a lot of at garage sales is strings of beads. I had had them on my Christmas tree as garlands for years now. I will continue to collect and make them for my family members would like some too. They are quite pretty and the clear glass beads pick up the colors from the tree lights. I use heavy button thread to string them hoping that makes them strong. I think they would be pretty twisted around on evergreen wreaths too.

  • Yes Glitz, and it is fun just to look through and read the descriptions of the items she has for sale.

  • HURRAH FOR LLUDWIG ON 13500 POSITIVE FEEDBACK.

Lots of hard work and I am so proud of her.

Yet, taking time to help and educate us. Big hugs too.

  • Hi Vintage, Well I am having breakfast in front of the computer because it is still too dark to sit on the porch. I am trying to decide which of my treasures I am tired of listing and which I am going to put away for a while, keep for a yard sale or send to GW or SA. Can't have a yard sale any more without the help of my kids. Just don't have the energy. We split the take sometimes and others, I share my part with them because they don't have that much stuff. I have enough stuff for us all.

  • Good Morning! where is everyone? I hope that you are not doing your Fall house cleaning yet. I haven't finished my Spring Housecleaning...from 3 years ago. I have a lovely friend who announces that she has started hers. She is sooo nice except this annoying habit of hers of telling everyone what marvelous chore she has accomplished. Don't get me wrong, I would love a very clean house and might as well not ever expect to get done. There really isn't a DONE. It is a myth. I think. Maybe. Too many humans come and go through that front door of ours to ever be able say done. How about you???

  • Jo. don't snuggle as much since DH got his lazy boy. Hate that lazy boy. The grands and I go snuggle on the couch a lot.

  • I have a collection of wrist watches because after buying them or receiving them as gifts, I had a hard time finding batteries for them. I used to get them at jcpenny's or target but now they don't keep the batteries unless they are selling the watch or had that kind for sale lately. We have a new Jewelry Doctor near by. DD says that they carry a large array of batteries for any watch and sell them @ $7. Good news!

  • On the other hand, there are other insects out there too.
Afternoon, Well, it’s goodbye September and hello Autumn. The is still a lot of green out there and flowers blooming that will last until a heavy frost because they are so close to the house. The Cicadas have stopped chirring using their shell and wings with a cracking sound, somewhat like a cricket only much louder. We do have a cricket in the washroom who is still in love and hasn’t found his mate yet. It sure is agravating Jasper and he goes in that room and grumbles deep down in his throat, translated from cat to peeps is, ”Come out here you coward and I will give you what fore”.

  • GLITZ, It isn't as dangerous as ordinary heart surgery, but pretty close. It is a procedure where the surgeon locates a vein or artery in you groin area and inserts a viewer like a camera and has a look at the insides of them all the way to yours heart of lungs, which ever way they are investigating. In my case they did them both. I had it done in the very early morning and was allowed to go home that evening. We only live 5 minutes away so should I be in trouble I could be in emergency room in a whip-stitch.
It seems that my problem is in my lungs and I don't know what the future holds but will find out soon for I have an appointment with a Pullmanary/Heart Specialist. Have no idea what is going to happen then. Hope no more tests. Sounded like at my last visit yesterday to our regular Cardiologist that it will be just a change in meds and the new dr. will just be on the side.

  • The ordeal is over, except for the extra sleeping and drinking a lot of fluids. The proceedure, right and left heart catherization took twice as long as originally planned and left my DH in a worried ragged mess. When we got home, he went right to bed too.
We see DR this afternoon and find out what we do with the results of the tests. Perhaps a quietier life and different meds.

We received a note from the DOT that they are going to do massive resurfacing our street. So far they have spray painted locations to various pipes and sewers, etc to the delight of the kids walking home from school. This is good news for the bad weather we had last season has left some serious damage.
The rain we have had lately, some of it heavy, was so welcome. It gave everything a bath, including the car and left a lovelier shade of green to a dying lawn. The fall colors are starting to show a little bit here and there and the squirrels have a heavier coat already and are super busy burying acorns all over the lawn.
We are already receiving political calls and signs of the coming election here and there. I am tired and bored with it already.
I got some of my old auctions relisted and wonder if it will be worth the effort to list any more books.
Hope all has been ok with you all and still am not caught up with reading all of your posts.

  • There have been too many deaths in our family lately each of my 4 children and a grandchild have lost their mothers-in laws and each one has an oh no not them feel about them.

We feel very fortunate to have not had any flooding here in Indy. Knock on wood. We have had it in the past. notable this spring and it is a scramble to get things up so they won't be damaged and then the drought. Just can't trust that ole Mother Nature can we? I feel so sad about the woes in the east with the rain an flooding and the fires in Texas. So sad, so sad.

  • Speaking of Jewelry, for a long time there, we all bought strings of beads and then mixed them all up and made longs garlands of jewels for our Christmas trees. The pearls made them that more beautiful, and we received lots of compliments on them. It is something that the grandkids helped make too.

  • Katie, I'll tell you what we had to do to prevent diaper rash, especially in the winter time when it was too cold to hang them outside. What with hard water and soap scum I had to iron my diapers. It worked too and I just got into the habit of standing in front of the TV while doing it. In the mornings, Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans helped me and kept the kids busy and occupied and later the Mickey Mouse Club. I had white shirts to iron too and put them in the frig before ironed them. I don't know why that worked but it did. We used to iron by the bushel basket full. I didn't know that rich people didn't have to iron. I just thought everyone else did. haha.

  • Any way you look at it, change is always a big pain no matter how you plan. Let's just hope that this change will make eBay a better place. Thank goodness we have this place to bring our problems.

I don't know how it happened or what I said that I shouldn't but I have lost a long post. I am always so careful what and how I say things so I hope that I just forgot to hip the "post message" button. The message was of no great importance anyway. But never want to offend.
It is a beautiful day here, sun shining and a nice breeze but a storm is coming later this afternoon. I hope so because we are in dire need of rain. Some our poor flowers are gone for this year and we just didn't get some of the seeds I bought planted. I am disappointed that I won't be seeing the double hollyhocks. Will just try to plant them this fall when naturally they would fall to the ground.

  • Let's see now. I used to know a Princess Glitz from another life time. Hummm I wonder if you are or knew her glitz. I believe she had weiner dogs.

  • Good Morning everyone. It is so good to see you all. It is a beautiful day in Indianapolis. 68o and all is calm and so clean looking after the rains. We lost some big limbs in the storm but they were from a city tree out front that needs to go. There is no wind and the Ragweed has not gotten to us yet. The birds are so happy with the Poke weed which this year is over 7’ tall.
Today will be a fun day. I will be spending an hour plus at the new JoAnne Fabric and Craft shop. DH has some shopping to do and so he will leave me there and pick me up when he is done. It has only been open for several weeks and everything is so clean and new and orderly. Will spend some time at the pattern table. Er most time.
Then he will take me to the Golden Corral for lunch. Love that too. We have gone there so many years that we meet have a circle of friends, not always planned though. And, of course, several favorite waitresses. After all that fun it will be naptime. I haven't found my box of Jewelry yet, it might be in storage. We are giving up and extra room to bring that stuff back home. I am sure that I will sneeze my head of but it is worth it to just get it done. None of it is very valuable but it is there... you know?
